Specialty Heavy Duty Reel Cable — Custom-Engineered Extreme-Environment Drum Cable for Military, Nuclear, Subsea, Cryogenic, and Critical-Application Reeling

Specialty heavy duty reel cable for applications beyond standard industrial categories: military, nuclear, subsea ROV, cryogenic (-196°C LNG), high-temperature (+200°C), chemical-resistant, and radiation-resistant. Fully custom-engineered: conductor material, insulation system, jacket compound, tensile reinforcement, and shielding configured to your specification. 0.6/1 kV to 15 kV. MIL-DTL, IEEE 383, API, ABS certified. For defense, energy, oceanographic, and critical infrastructure where standard cable categories do not exist.

Key Features

Fully custom-engineered: no catalog standard — cable designed to your specification and environment
Extreme temperature: -196°C (LNG cryogenic) to +200°C (steel mill, nuclear) — tailored insulation system
Specialty materials: FEP/Teflon insulation, silicone jacket, stainless steel armor, radiation-crosslinked compounds
Subsea rated: 3 000+ m water depth, hydrogen sulfide (H₂S) resistant, polyurethane or polyethylene jacket
Military/defense: MIL-DTL-24643 and MIL-DTL-915 compliant, shock-tested, low-smoke zero-halogen
Nuclear qualified: Class 1E safety-related, LOCA (loss of coolant accident) tested, radiation resistant
Chemical/acid resistant: FEP, PFA, ETFE insulation and jacket for extreme chemical environments
Custom testing: shock, vibration, crush, flex, torsion, environmental — per your acceptance criteria

Applications

LNG terminal — cryogenic loading arm reel cable at -196°CSubsea ROV and trencher — umbilical reel cable at 3 000 m depthNuclear power plant — Class 1E safety-related cable reel for fuel handlingMilitary field power — MIL-spec tactical generator and mobile substation reelsSteel mill hot zone — ladle crane auxiliary reel at +180°C ambientChemical plant — acid/alkali-resistant reel cable for tanker loadingOceanographic research — deep-sea winch and instrument deployment cable

Detailed Description

When Standard Is Not Enough

Every product in our reeling cable catalog is designed for a specific application — gantry crane, bucket wheel reclaimer, portal crane, mobile crane. These are standard industrial categories with well-defined requirements.

This product exists for applications outside those categories — where the environment, performance requirement, or certification standard cannot be met by a standard cable. It is not a product you order from a catalog. It is an engineered solution we design with you.

The Engineering Process

  1. You define the requirement: Environment (temperature, chemicals, pressure, radiation), electrical (voltage, current, signal types), mechanical (tensile load, bend radius, cycling frequency, drum geometry), and certification (MIL-spec, nuclear, marine classification, ATEX)
  2. We select materials: Conductor type and plating, insulation compound, jacket compound, tensile reinforcement type and grade, shielding configuration, armor type — every material choice is driven by your specification, not by what is in stock
  3. We design the construction: Core arrangement, stranding geometry, filler density, layer separation, jacket thickness, tensile core integration — designed for your specific mechanical loads
  4. We prototype and test: Short sample lengths manufactured and tested to your acceptance criteria. Test reports provided. Design iteration if needed.
  5. We produce and certify: Full production run with complete material traceability, in-process inspection, and final acceptance testing. Documentation package meets your certification requirements.

Why Yichi for Specialty Heavy Duty?

  • Material-agnostic engineering: We recommend the right material for your application — not the material we have in stock or the one with the highest margin
  • Single-source responsibility: Conductor, stranding, insulation, cabling, jacketing, testing, certification — all in-house. No subcontracting to unknown quality
  • Documentation to your standard: MIL-spec material certs, nuclear quality assurance (10 CFR 50 Appendix B), API 17E umbilical qualification — we understand the documentation requirements
  • Minimum order flexibility: Prototype quantities from 100 m — we do not require 5 000 m to start an engineering project
