What is the advantage of a PUR jacket compared to a rubber jacket on a reeling cable?
PUR jackets provide significantly better resistance to abrasion, tearing, and notch propagation than standard Neoprene or EPDM rubber jackets. This is especially critical in reeling applications where the cable experiences sidewall pressure and surface drag. PUR also resists oils, fuels, and ozone more effectively, which extends service life in harsh industrial environments like ports and waste treatment plants.
What does VDE 0295 Class 6 conductor mean?
This classification refers to the maximum flexibility of the copper conductor. Class 6 conductors are made from extra-fine individual strands, making them the most flexible option available for cables that must withstand constant bending, winding, and unwinding on cable reels. This design minimizes internal strand breakage.
Can this cable be used in outdoor or sub-zero temperature applications?
Yes. The polyurethane jacket compound remains flexible in low-temperature conditions. For fixed installations, the cable can withstand temperatures down to -40°C. For dynamic/mobile reeling operations, the minimum ambient temperature is -5°C without pre-heating. Below that, we recommend contacting our engineers to discuss specialized low-temperature PUR compounds.
Do you supply the cable with a green/yellow ground core?
Yes. For power versions with 3 cores and above, we include a green/yellow ground core as standard. If your equipment does not require a separate ground or uses a specific earthing layout, we can supply configurations without the G/Y core upon request.
