YVFB Flexible Flat Cable for Mobile Power & Control Applications
The YVFB cable is a highly flexible flat cable engineered for demanding mobile power, control, and lighting circuits. Its 8-core flat arrangement with parallel conductor layout (other formations such as bundled ordering available on request) delivers outstanding bending performance, compact cross-section, and superior resistance to mechanical stress. With a combination of toughness, light weight, and a small bending radius, the YVFB flat cable ensures reliable operation in applications where cables are continuously flexing, dragging, or spooling.
Key Performance Properties

Cold temperature capability – remains flexible down to -30°C in moving installations
-
Flame retardant options – ZR-YVFB and other variants available upon request
Typical Applications
The YVFB flat cable is deployed across a wide range of heavy industrial moving equipment:
-
Overhead cranes, electric hoists, and travelling trolleys
-
Gantry cranes, port cranes, ship-to-shore container cranes
-
Coal yard wagon tipplers, stackers and reclaimers
-
Metallurgical ladle cranes and charging machines
-
Cable reeling systems (cable drums) and festoon systems (cable trolleys)
-
Elevators, lifts, and stage machinery requiring flat moving power
Whether installed on a motorized cable reel as a reeling cable or suspended in a festoon system as a pendant cable, YVFB is built to perform. It can be used indoors in clean workshops or outdoors in ports, stockyards, and construction sites where exposure to sunlight, rain, and oil is common.
The YVFB flat cable is rated for AC voltages 0.6/1kV and is suitable for power transmission, control, lighting, and signal communication lines in mobile equipment. It has been widely adopted in metallurgy, power generation, marine, port, and general heavy industry sectors.
Construction Details
-

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
What is the difference between YVFB flat cable and standard round reeling cables?
YVFB uses a flat geometry that stacks cores in a single plane, drastically reducing the minimum bending radius in one direction, saving space and improving flex life. It is lighter and less prone to twisting compared to round cable designs when used on single-layer drums or festoon systems.
Can YVFB be used outdoors in direct sunlight and rain?
Yes. The NBR/PVC jacket is formulated to resist UV radiation, water, and oil, making it suitable for outdoor installations at ports, stockyards, and exposed crane runways. For fixed outdoor runs without movement, continuous exposure to extreme weather is well within its rated -40°C to +90°C static temperature range.
What voltage ratings are available?
Standard production covers 0.6/1 kV. The manufacturer also produces versions rated up to 15 kV for higher-voltage mobile equipment. Please specify your system voltage when requesting a quotation.
How does the cable behave under continuous reeling and un-reeling?
The extra-fine Class 6 stranded copper conductor and optimized NBR/PVC jacket provide outstanding flex fatigue resistance. When selected with the correct bending radius (min. 6–10 × cable OD) and reel design, YVFB cables deliver long service life in high-cycle reel applications. For very dynamic systems, provide cycle speed and travel length so our engineers can validate the design.
Are shielded versions available for control and signal circuits?
Yes. YVFBP provides an overall copper wire braid shield for electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) in VFD-driven and instrumentation circuits. YVFBPG adds a steel wire reinforcement layer for high mechanical stress.
Can I order custom core counts and conductor sizes?
Absolutely. While 8-core flat is a common configuration, we manufacture YVFB flat cables with a variety of cross-sectional areas and core counts to match your equipment. Pre-defined stocking sizes and fully custom designs are both possible.
Do you offer flame-retardant or other special compound variants?
ZR-YVFB flame-retardant cables are routinely produced. Other special compounds (low smoke zero halogen, high-temperature, extreme oil resistance, etc.) can be developed on a project basis. Contact us with the applicable standard (IEC, BS, DIN, etc.) and environmental conditions.
What lead times and MOQ can I expect?
Lead times depend on the specification and order quantity. Standard configurations are typically kept in production cycles, while custom constructions are made to order. Reach out with your technical parameters and target volume for a specific delivery schedule and competitive pricing.
