Detailed Description
What Is Outdoor Field Specialty Cable?
Outdoor field specialty cable is a flexible multi-core power, control, or signal cable with an enhanced-thickness PE or PUR jacket specifically engineered for temporary and semi-permanent outdoor deployment in all weather conditions — the cable that is deployed from a drum across a field, laid on the ground, run over by vehicles, exposed to sun, rain, snow, and mud, coiled back onto the drum, and deployed again at the next location. It is the cable for military field operations, disaster relief, outdoor events, and remote monitoring where the cable is a portable asset, not a fixed installation.
The defining feature is the jacket — it is 1.5–2× thicker than an equivalent indoor cable, formulated with carbon black for UV stabilisation, and selected (PE or PUR) for the specific environmental conditions of the deployment. The jacket is the cable's sole defence against the outdoor environment — there is no conduit, no cable tray, no building to protect it. The jacket must survive everything the weather and the field operations throw at it, for the deployment duration, and remain intact for the next deployment.
Why Choose Yichi Outdoor Field Specialty Cables
- PE or PUR jacket — select for the deployment environment: PE for fixed and buried outdoor installations (superior moisture barrier, 30+ year underground life). PUR for handled, mobile, and frequently deployed field cables (superior flexibility, cold-flex to -40°C, abrasion resistance, and the high-visibility colour options for field safety). Both jacket materials are UV-stabilised and weather-resistant
- Thick jacket wall — 1.5–2× the standard indoor cable thickness: The jacket is the cable's only mechanical protection in the field. The thicker wall provides the margin against abrasion, cut-through, vehicle crush, and the general rough handling of field operations. A standard indoor cable jacket thickness would be punctured or abraded through within days of field deployment
- Flexible Class 5 conductor — survives repeated coiling and uncoiling: Field cable is deployed and retrieved repeatedly. The flexible stranding prevents conductor fatigue from the repeated handling — a solid or Class 2 stranded conductor would work-harden, fracture, and fail after a few deployment cycles
- High-visibility jacket colours — safety for personnel and equipment: Orange, yellow, or red PUR jacket for field cables laid on the ground in operational areas — the cable is immediately visible, reducing the trip hazard and the risk of accidental vehicle damage. Black for buried cables and installations where visual discretion is required
